Arts Tutorial: Handmade Felt Frame. :D

السّلام عليكم
PEACE be upon YOU! ;)
Getting tired of your boring daily routine? Let's take a break and do something crafty!
Here's another arts tutorial of mine. theeheee~
Long ago i had once suggested to made frame using old calendars as seen on the entry here>> Don't toss your old table calendars
Now, i'm suggesting another way of displaying your favourite photographs. :)
Tadaaaa~
Let's make a picture frame using felt fabric!
First thing first, things you gotta have are felt fabrics, scissors, needle, thread, and a little magnet.
and then, all you have to do is cut out your fabric into shapes that you want and arrange it nicely.
Then, sew up the shapes on the front side of your frame.
The other option, you may simply stick the decorations using a hot glue gun, or fabric glue.

For the back side of the frame, sew a tiny pocket at the back before you insert the little magnet and sew up the whole sides of the pocket.
Next, combine both front side and back side of the frame by using the 'blanket stitch' technique.
And voila! your frame is ready to be stick on your fridge or white board or simply anything which made of metal. :DDD

Science students become Business students-cum-Art&Design students??

السّلام عليكم
PEACE be upon YOU! ;)
"Science students become Business students-cum-Art & Design students??" that's how the title of this entry sounds like. okay,,
i think, some readers must be noted about my previous status as a Science student who eventually decided to take up Business Studies at university right? HAHA. Somehow i feel a little bit funny when i reread my old entries about the so called 'dilemmas of pursuing studies'. Okay, forget about it!
What ever it is, now i'm a Business student, and i'm happy about it. ;)
I can't deny, sometimes i do miss learning Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. but when i looked at my previous housemates who're taking Science courses stressed-out too much to memorize all those Science facts has somehow made me feel relieved.
The best part is that, i could finally spend some of my time on doing arts! YEAY! :DDD Unlike during those years as a Science student, i left back all the pencil colours, paints, and brushes back then.
i was a liltle bit regret that i didn't took Art subject as additional subject for SPM. heh~

Ironically, even my Micro Economic lecturer, Mdm. Hanani asked the students to made hand-written mind maps as creative as we can for all the chapters. :O
So, down here is the mind map which i made on the topic 'Supply'. Yeah i know the topic has nothing to do with angry bird. HEH. -,-"
Other than that, i also made customized t-shirt and shoes for my marketing project as i told before in my previous entry >> HERE.

Using the remaining Acrylic paint, i decided to decorate the container of the chocolate moist cake that i presented my friend, Norshahirah Azahar on her birthday. :)
Well, since my campus is located so 'far far away' from the town, so i've got nothing to buy for my friend's birthday. So i simply bought the cake from cafeteria and beautify it! :D

At the same time of me doing that, Bella, Eddy, and Lyeanna were there too.
Thus, Bell decided to decorate Eddy's Blackberry Silicon case.
Oh FYI, Bell and Eddy used to be science students too! :D

At first, Bell randomly drew a TV set on the case before they washed it off and finally decided to draw the Union Jack instead. HAHA.
After the three of us worked on it, tadaaaa~ here's the result!
Besides good in academic and doing arts, Bella and Eddy are both talented in modeling too! :P
Thus, that's the end of this entry.
I assume that what i mean by the title up there is crystal clear now. :)

From Zero to HERO!!

السّلام عليكم
 Peace be upon YOU! ;)
Okay, it has been quite some time i didn't posted any arts tutorials entry isn't it?
So here's another tutorial of mine, on DIY t-shirt painting + shoe painting!
This t-shirt painting thingy was actually my so called 'project product' for my Marketing subject at univ.
Yes, I presented this product in front of my class and my lecturer, Mdm Kunie.
and thank God! She loves it! :D
All the time i sacrificed while burning the midnight's oil in completing this project was worth it, indeed!
So, down here is my art piece result!
Mind to order a customized t-shirt from me? drop me a comment. LOL! kidding!
I actually got the idea of making this t-shirt project thingy from my previous project as seen on my older entry in 2011, which was the 'I ♥ Baking' beaded t-shirt in picture down here.

okay, before i keep on talking about unnecessary things any longer, i'd better begin the tutorial now! yeayy!
First thing first, what would you need are a plain t-shirt, a design, a pencil, fabric paints/acrylic paints, and paint brushes.
Firstly, sketch the design you wanted on the t-shirt using a pencil.
Secondly, colour the picture/design as desired. You may blend in different colours in order to get different colour tones. And then, draw the outlines using a darker colour.
Tadaaa~ you've turn out your so unattractive plain t-shirt into something that very eye-catching!
Other than t-shirt, you might also make-over your old shoes by using the same technique!
This shoe painting thingy was actually my previous semester's project for my Management subject.
I turn out my friend's old school shoes into  this yelow monsters shoe in the picture down here! :D
Thus, these are the reason why i entitled this entry as "From Zero to HERO!!" since i've changed things which look so priceless into something attractive and worth making isn't it?

henna-ing suka suki [part 3]

السّلام عليكم
 Peace be upon YOU! ;)
oh, it has been quite some time i didn't write something here on my blog isn't it?
so, to warm up a lil' bit i'd like to share some pictures of my late night activity with my housemates last night,,
which was HENNA-ing their hands!! :DDD
credits to my housemate, Zaza for letting me to 'conteng' both of her hands. wheee~ ;)
before.
the results! :D
i think that i've improved a lil' bit on my henna drawing skills. *perasan* :P
coz when i refered back to my previous henna arts as seen on these entries, >>
 henna-ing suka-suki + making cekodok pisang! :D
henna-ing suka-suki [part 2] + making pisang goreng [banana fritters]
i had just realized that my drawings was so dang bad! no wonder Faheem thought it was a cut, then asked me whether it hurts or not. LOL! xD
after i've done doing the henna drawings on Zaza's hand, another housemate of mine, Kak fatin requested me to do the henna drawing on her hand as well. and this activity going on and on and on till 1 a.m. HAHA.
what a crazy night!
and here's FATINS JR. ! i made this one on my right thumb. :D and i kept on playing with my own finger all day by imagining this so called 'FATINS JR.' to be alive. LOL! me so lame!
here's a picture of FATINS JR. when 'she' was reading at Anjung this evening. ;)

OKAY enough! i seem to be ridiculously insane with this 'weird' caption and picture right up here.
before i go beyond this insane-ness i'd better off now!
kcoolbye! << p/s: i learn this line from Charlie McDonnell's girlfriend. oh, she's so cute indeed!

Recipe: Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.

السّلام عليكم
PEACE be upon YOU! ;)
PHEWW~ It seems that i've forgot that i used to have my own blog! LOL! It has been four months i didn't post anything on my blog huh? Thus, here it is! my very first entry for the year 2012! HAHAHA. Is it too late for me to wish HAPPY NEW YEAR? What a silly question,, absolutely YES, it's too late Fatin! duhh~ I've been so busy back in these four months with my campus life, till i've no time to spend on this blogging thinggy. Awwh~ how sad it sounds right? >,<" Well anyway, now is my semester break. Therefore i've got a plenty of time to spend on my hobbies! YEAH! However, today i'm not going to write about what i've been doing during the past four months first, cause i'm going to blog about another cake recipe! as requested by my old friend, Afiq. :D Hehe, he asked me for the complete recipe so that he can give it to her sister, and then ask her to bake it for him. ;) Okay, after quite some time i didn't came back home, i'm now back in the kitchen! Weehooo~ I'm the one who'll rule the kitchen! First thing first, of course i started with my favourite stuff in the kitchen which is the oven! theehe~ Thinking of baking, a Red Velvet Cake immediately popped-up in my mind. Well, i used to searched for the recipes back then before i continued studying, but i procrastinated to do it from time to time and end up didn't bake it at all at that time. LOL! Since i've got lots and lots of free time, i've finally make up my mind to made a first attempt of baking this Red Velvet cake last week. Even thought that was my first time baking this kind of cake, but it was a success! As usual, i've got compliments from my very best food tester who is my beloved MAMA! :D So, here's the recipe that i found and adjusted a lil' bit:

Ingredients for the Red Velvet Cake ;
2 1/2 cups (250g) sifted cake flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons (15g) cocoa powder
1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups (300g) granulated white sugar - [caster sugar]
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
2 tablespoons liquid red food coloring
1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
1 teaspoon baking soda

Ingredients for the Cream Cheese Frosting ;
(227 grams) cream cheese - [i used 250g]
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup (115 grams) icing sugar, sifted
1/2 cup butter

P/s: Some other recipes also include the Mascarpone Cheese and heavy Whipping Cream as the ingredients for the frosting, but to me, all the 4 ingredients listed above are sufficient enough. If you'd love a richer taste of cheese for the frosting, you may omit the butter from the list! That's what kak Athirah [Hariz's elder sis] told me when i asked her for some tips. :D
*If you can't find the buttermilk at supermarket, you can make your own buttermilk by adding a tablespoon of distilled white vinegar to milk and letting it stand for about 10 minutes.

Methods ;
Preheat oven 175 degrees C. Grease your cake pan using butter and flour. Set aside.
#1 - In a mixing bowl - sift together the flour, salt, and cocoa powder. Mix well and set aside.
#2 - In another large bowl - using mixer, beat the butter until soft. Add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time. Add the vanilla extract and beat until combined.
#3 - In a measuring cup - whisk the buttermilk with the red food coloring.
With the mixer on low speed, alternately add the flour mixture(#1) and buttermilk(#3) to the butter mixture(#2), in three additions, beginning and ending with the flour.
#4 - In a small cup - combine the vinegar and baking soda. Allow the mixture to fizz and then quickly fold into the cake batter(#2).

Put in the batter into the pan and smooth the tops with an offset spatula or the back of a spoon. Bake in the preheated oven for half an hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cakes comes out clean. Cool the cake in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Place a wire rack on top of the cake pan and invert, lifting off the pan. The cake is ready to be frosted when it's completely cooled down.
For the Frosting ;
In a bowl, by using a mixer, beat the butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add the vanilla and icing sugar and beat until smooth. Add more sugar or cream as needed to get the right consistency.
Assemble ;
With a serrated knife, cut the cake into half, horizontally. Place one of the cake layers, top of the cake facing down, onto your serving platter. Spread the cake layer with a layer of frosting.  And then place another layer of cake on top of the frosting and continue to frost the top and sides of the cake.

 view from the inside. :P
this is how the batter look like. :D

Malaysian Dish Recipe :Smooth Egg Tofu in Oyster Sauce! :D

السّلام عليكم
PEACE be upon YOU! ;)
as i promised in the last entry where i shared a Black Pepper Squids recipe, here is my recipe of Smooth Egg Tofu!!
INGREDIENTS:
~3 cylinders of Smooth Egg Tofu [a.k.a. Tahu Jepun]
~Cooking Oil
~3 cloves of Garlic
~Broccoli, Baby Corns, [or any other crunchy vegetables]
~Salt / Fish Sauce
~2 tbsp oyster sauce
~2 tbsp sweet soy sauce [Kicap Manis]
~1 egg
~mixture of 1/2 tbsp of Corn flour with 2tbsp of water *optional*

METHODS:
1) Carefully cut the packaging of the Smooth Egg Tofu on the dotted line.
2) Slowly and very carefully remove the Tofu out from the packaging by letting the Tofu slide out by itself.
3) Slice the Tofu cylinder into 7 to 9 round pieces depending on the thickness that you would prefer.
4) fry in cooking oil until a thin 'skin' appeared on the outside.
[i think it would be better if you fry them until it turned golden brown and crispy on the outside. hmm~ i should be a bit more patient next time!]
5) then, Set aside the fried Tofu.
6) To made the sauce, heat some Oil in a wok.
7) Add in the chopped Garlic and saute until fragrant.
8) Add in the Broccoli and Baby Corns together with Oyster Sauce and Sweet Soy Sauce a.k.a. Kicap Manis. and stir-fry for awhile.
9) Add in a cup of Water. if you wanted the sauce to be thicker, add in the Corn Flour mixture into the sauce. Let the sauce simmer and vegetables become tender.
10) Finally, add in the Chilli and crack an Egg into the mixture before add in the Tofu back into the wok.
11) Stir very gently and turn off the heat once the mixture comes to a boil. voila! your Smooth Egg Tofu a.k.a. Tahu Jepun are now ready to be eaten!

As usual, all Malaysian food are always best served with Steamed White Rice! ;)
that's all for now, i have to pen off now!
 chiow and Happy COOKING!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
the third attempt :
add in a dash of corn flour to made the gravy thickens like this. :D

recipe: Black Pepper Squids the Malaysian style! :D

السّلام عليكم
PEACE be upon YOU! ;)
yesterday i cooked squids for the first time! wheeeeeeeeee~ <<< duhh~ pity me.=,="
so, that's mean, it was also the first time i cleaned the squid by myself. LOL! xD
i still remember, when i was kid, i called this as 'the sword'. >>>
and i used to call this one as 'moustache'!! >>>
as usual, i searched for many different recipes and combine them all. :)
so, here's my combined recipes! :D
INGREDIENTS:
~ 1/2 kg of Squids, cut and cleaned
~ 1 Onion, cut in round
~3 cloves of Garlic, chopped
~1 Red Chilli, sliced
~ Cooking Oil
~2 spoonful of Black Pepper Sauce
~2 teaspoon of Black Pepper beans, crushed coarsely
~ a dash of Black Pepper powder
~2 spoonful of oyster sauce
~ a pinch of Sugar and Salt to taste

P/S: you could also add in other ingredients like Ginger and Tomatoes, or replace the Oil with Butter, Sugar with Honey, and the Salt with Fish Sauce.

METHODS:
1) Fry the Squids in a wok for a few seconds just to discharge excessive water. [some of other recipes asked us to soak the squids in boiling water]
*picture: after it has been fried for a few seconds.
2) Take out the Squids into a bowl and set aside.
3) Add in a little bit more oil in the same wok, then saute the Garlic and the crushed Black Pepper Beans until fragrant.
4) Add in water at this point if you love to 'slurp' the gravy. ;)
5 ) Add in the Squids back, together with the Oyster Sauce, Black Pepper Sauce and a pinch of Sugar and Salt.
6) lastly, add in the Onion and Red Chilli.
7) Taste a bit and adjust the taste by adding a dash of Black Pepper Powder. Mix well, and voila! your Black Pepper Squids a.k.a. Sotong Lada Hitam is now ready to be eaten!

it's best serve with plain white rice. :D
HAPPY COOKING!

TIPS: do not over-cooked the squids, or else it will be quite tough.

 cool right? :D

this app also doesn't turned the pictures automatically into the final result,,
but the image changes from one moment to another,,
just like the photograph came out from the real Polaroid Stand Camera, we have to shake shake them first for a few seconds right? :D

see the changes of the picture's colour below >>>

here are some other pictures i've experimented on >>

so POLAROID lovers, hurry! get yours now!
FIRST, simply download the FREE app at http://www.poladroid.net/ and launch it.
SECOND, drag and drop the photo you would like onto the blue Polaroid camera like the one in picture below >>
THIRD, 'shake' the photo while waiting it to change it's colour completely. LOL!
voila! now you have your own Polaroid picture!

however, i'm still thankful to God that i have my own digital camera.
even it's not a Polaroid, or DSLR, or Lomo, or whatsoever fancy camera that i ever wanted in this world, but this one was a gift from my mum.
that makes this camera so special to me. :D
thanks mum! :')
